In The Press -
School has started again and the kids want to play an instrument in band class. Your little girl decides that she wants to play the flute. You get on to eBay and purchase your instrument. A few weeks later your child is having a ball in band and every afternoon from her bedroom you can hear atrocious noises that can hardly be considered music. One day, your little girl comes home from school with tears in her eyes - she dropped her flute while walking home. Assuming that the damage is minimal, you open up the case to find that one of the joints has been severely bent, rendering it unplayable. You remember how much the flute cost you and in a panicked state you begin to flip through the phone book in search of someone who can fix your mangled instrument. What do you do? Who do you choose? The best option is someone reliable, affordable, and honest. Meis Musical Instrument Repair has been serving Colorado since 1995. Since its' induction, MMIR has grown to a business that repairs a variety of band instruments such as trumpets, flutes, clarinets, saxophones, and violins - just to name a few. The business is family owned and operated. The husband/wife owners, Greg and Tessa Meis can be found in the shop, at their repair benches, every day of the week. So whether you walk in with your broken instrument or call for a price estimate, you will most often always be speaking with one of the owners. This aspect of MMIR is admirable and unique. Instead of risking miscommunication or consumer conflict, your questions are answered accurately the first time - there's never a middle man.
MMIR is home to repair technicians that are all under the guidance and supervision of the owners. There is never a repair that goes out the door that hasn't been carefully inspected and approved by the owners. Though this would seem to be time consuming and costly to the customer, it isn't. It is simply the standard that Greg and Tessa have held themselves and their employees to from the very beginning. The full-time techs on duty have been with the company from the beginning and the part-time employees come back to work year after year, ready to further hone their skills and learn more about the trade. All of the employees, whether full or part-time, always appear to be genuinely happy to be in the shop and are eager to answer your questions. If for any reason they don't have the answer to your question, they will direct you to one of the owners, insuring that you get all of the information you need before deciding to have your instrument repaired. Perhaps the most recognizable feature about MMIR is the quality of work that is performed. Over the years, the humble repair shop based out of Lakewood, Colorado has gained the reputation of being one of the best repair companies in the state. Their long list of clientele includes local music stores and various public schools, as well as high-profile musicians like Billy Joel and Prince. MMIR has gained national recognition because everyone who repairs at the shop takes special care to treat every instrument with care and precision. As instrument repair is a specialized trade, not many people go into the industry. That being said, there are many repair shops that feel they can take advantage of their lients by inflating prices and producing sub-par work. What has made MMIR stand out from the crowd is their determination to be fair, honest, and reasonable. Their prices are always competitive and the results far surpass the cost of the work. It is truly one of the few businesses left that operate with family values. Due to the high moral and professional standards that MMIR has always adhered to, the company has gained recognition from various organizations and consumer advocates such as Tom Martino. In fact, Meis Musical Instrument Repair is the only instrument repair company on Tom Martino's Referral List. Having trusted, high-profile references is important for any business, and that is especially the case when you're dealing with a unique industry such as instrument repair.
I highly recommend Meis Musical Instrument Repair for your instrument repair needs. The company also sells various instruments on eBay and the prices are just as reasonable as that of their repair work. You can also check out their website at www.meismusic.com for a full description of the company, repair techniques, and a full price list that covers all of the instruments they service.
